City commences with road resurfacing in Glencairn

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate advises the public of roadworks along Simon’s Town Main Road from Dido Valley Road to the Glencairn Expressway in Glencairn. The work is planned to take place from today, Monday 31 March 2025, until Monday, 19 May 2025. Read more below:

The road resurfacing will take place between 09:00 and 15:30 from Sunday to Friday. Residents can expect some night work that will be required to complete the portion between Glencairn Expressway towards Dido Valley Road. This work will done between 19:00 and 04:30. To facilitate the work, partial lane closures will be in place at night from 6 April to 11 May 2025, between 19:00 and 04:30.

‘We thank residents and businesses in the area for their patience while the works are underway. Please note that some noise can be expected, however, our teams will work hard to complete the project as this forms part of our regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the City’s road network in order to keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The work includes:
• Removing the existing road surface
• Relaying kerbs and channels along the affected roads
• Resurfacing sidewalks
• Applying new road markings to enhance safety and visibility
